As the Manufacturing Central Backend Equipment Engineering Director, your global team is responsible for leading the development of and execution to an overall equipment investment strategy, central definition and leadership of equipment alignment and improvement programs, new equipment introductions to enable Micron’s technology roadmap and full support of the BE sites in propelling the BE to be best-in-class in all big-rock metrics.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Tool Competitiveness

  • Drive a culture of Value-based investing, both in terms of resources and capital.
  • Ensure Micron is getting the full benefits of the capital invested with our equipment vendors.
  • Drive network performance to meet industry benchmarks. Emphasis on taking a strategic approach to influence pricing, productivity, process performance, and advancements in technology. Participate/Lead teams which influence Capital, MTEP and evaluation decisions, CT, and Quality.

Department Management

  • Identify manage and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department        
  • Collaborate with site teams to lead new tool purchases, installations, and qualifications
  • Coordinate with Site teams, Procurement and other partners to support global initiatives, Copy Smart initiatives and others

 Strategic Communication

  • Communicate department goals and areas of focus within your sphere of influence
  • Articulate compelling and inspiring visions and strategies
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with global counterparts
  • Communicate customer expectations to the organization
  • Manage the people side of change                           

Performance Management

  • Create an environment of motivation to foster team member’s engagement to the fullest of their potential
  • Develop a succession management strategy and periodically conduct talent reviews within department
  • Drive the deployment of Micron values within the organization
  • Foster an environment where “winning as a team” is a way of life
  • Develop and promote technical expertise in the group by supporting attendance to key conferences and seminars                              

Strategic Leadership

  • Identify, develop, and implement organizational initiatives that drive benchmark culture
  • Know the competition; be aware of how strategies and tactics work in the market place
  • Foster an environment where innovative thinking and intelligent risk taking is promoted
  • Actively collaborate with global partners to reach aligned decisions
  • Identify, understand and mitigate risk before making critical decisions                     

Program Management

  • Drive a culture of project management within the department
  • Prioritize and approve projects to align with BE’s key areas of focus
  • Manage, measure and monitor projects to ensure deliverables and time frames are met
  • Provide project resources and remove barriers

Environmental, Health, Safety and Security

  • Exercise due diligence to prevent and detect safety and environmental hazards and violations
  • Demonstrate support for EHS programs to reinforce a positive culture for EHS activities
  • Demonstrate support for the execution of the EHS management systems throughout the organization
  • Promptly implement preventative and corrective actions when gaps in expectations are identified

Education

Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience 

Experience

At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience

At least 5 years of relevant experience as a people leader

Qualifications

  • Proven capability of dealing with complex issues with an ability to utilize resources effectively.
  • In depth knowledge of MFG Equipment in at least one area.  Experienced across multiple MFG areas is a plus.  Experienced in Micron BE equipment is a plus.
  • Good English skills and the ability to lead and coordinate global teams across cultures and time zones. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with or at other sites.
  • A record of performance excellence for current area of responsibility, and previous areas managed and recognized as well as having demonstrated successful leadership characteristics both in present and past jobs.
  • Passionate about people leadership, with a drive toward ongoing learning and development in this area.
  • Viewed by current reports as an excellent mentor, team builder and motivator.
  • Demonstrated the ability to solve problems across multi-functional groups, both within and outside the department.
  • Current supervisor recommendation as a viable candidate.
  • Willing and capable of international travel, as needed, to accomplish your objectives.
